MGT-01-067: The Grease Thief Wind Turbine Sampling Kit contains eight (8) wind turbine sleeves that each contain: 1 syringe with cap, 1 Grease Thief Type 1 sampler, 1 spatula, and one shipping tube with label.
The Grease Thief® samplers are used to obtain representative and repeatable samples from main, pitch, yaw and generator bearings on a wind turbine. The double sided spatula is used to scrape away dirty grease and then the clean end is used to obtain 1 gram or more of representative grease. The grease is then loaded into the syringe and the syringe is used to completely fill the Grease Thief®. Alternatively, a Plastic T-Handle (sold seperately as a reuseable tool) can be used to set a target depth within the housing to core a representative sample close to the bearing/gear and live-zone grease area. The capped Grease Thief® is placed into the shipping tube and the barcode label is affixed to the tube.

In 4 years of running wind industry events, I can comfortably say that the Grease Thief sampling tool generated the most excitement, engagement and buzz of any product I've seen on display. It is truly innovative engineering geared specifically at problems known yet often misunderstood by the O&M community. It will doubtless save operators and service companies millions in pre-emptive O&M. If only all companies had products as pioneering as this!

The essential tool to extend condition monitoring to the grease-lubricated components of your wind turbines to help you understand what components are failing prematurely and why.

We have started to use these and have an FDM to measure the iron levels once taken. Simple things that work well are hard to find but this is defiantly one of them. Also the Techs seem to be able to do it which is half the battle. Great little gadgets.
